We are at Joe Wheeler State Park Marina in Rogersville, AL.

Today was the big exodus of Looper boats from Joe Wheeler. The first departures were planned for 7:00 AM as about 10 boats at a time traveled out of First Creek and two or three miles to Wheeler Lock to begin the now down stream journey on the Tennessee.

But once again Mother Nature intervened. Dense fog prevailed here until about 8-8:30, and the wave of boats was delayed for an hour. We watched our friends and fellow flotilla members Lori and Bill on "Perfect Day" leave in the wispy fog. We yelled at Lori and she waved back. Have a great time back home in Southern Cal!

Our friends Rick and Leila left about 9 on "Sun Gypsy". Power cords unplugged. Hand shakes and hugs. Engines running. Lines untied. Off they go into the mist. Bang! Suddenly it's all over. "Sun Gypsy" is going to Chattanooga, but about two days ahead of us. We hope to see them along the way. They are picking up friends from Cali this afternoon at the Huntsville Airport and will spend tonight at Decatur.

Next it was Jeff and Grace and cat Amos on "Sea Glide" from Asheville, NC. They are also heading down river. Hope to catch them in Florida.

So, soon our dock had a bunch of vacancies. A festive and vibrant place this week turned into just a plain old marina dock now. we miised this part of the Rendezvous last Fall when we drove here instead of coming by boat. The boat exodus is definitely an interesting part of the event!

We motored over to the fuel dock here at the marina and got a pump out. Susan did laundry this morning and I caught up on five or six days of blogs that needed to be posted. The sun eventually showed up, but it was cool and mostly cloudy all day.

Charli from "Always Five O' Clock" came over and we had a nice visit. They went to the Huntsville Airport this afternoon and picked up their grandson from Boston who will cruise with them down the Tenn-Tom. They picked up a few items for Susan from Publix in Huntsville.

Tonight we ate dinner on board. We are maxed out on banquet food right now. It is also very nice to have a quiet night for a change just to watch TV.

Tomorrow we stay here at Joe Wheeler. The Auburn - Texas A&M game is on CBS at 2:30 and I will definitely be watching that. We will be watching a lot of football tomorrow!

Thanks for Reading!
