Tonight we are in Cape May, NJ!

The Pucker Factor is high tonight. Tomorrow we head into the Atlantic Ocean and make our run up the coast. Where we go and how far we go will depend on how fast we can go. If I can maintain 12 mph or better, we will go all the way to New York Harbor. If it is too rough to travel fast, then maybe we will go in at Manasquan, NY and find some of our friends who are anchored there.

I am puckered because I don't like inlets and I don't like high winds and high seas. Our two experiences in the Chesapeake with high winds and high seas cured me. Tomorrow is supposed to be light winds below 10 mph up the Coast until we get to North Jersey, then increasing to 15-17. Seas are to be running 2-3 feet in swells mostly. Winds will be from the South and seas from the SSE. This means we will probably have some following sea conditions.

The run to the top of New Jersey will be about 125 miles. We will leave at 5:00 in the morning, with sunrise about 5:30.

Our run from Delaware City to Cape May today was delightful. Delaware Bay opens up to be very wide. We could not see land on either side of us or in front of us. We ran the ship channel down the Bay then cut Southeast for 17 miles to the Cape May Canal that goes into Cape May Harbor. The water was like our lake for the most part. Very calm and smooth. We must have had a lot of swells, because we both are rocking tonight with motion syndrome. We only saw one commercial vessel, and that was a Northbound tug heading up the bay pushing a huge bow wave. We bucked the incoming tide for an hour or more this morning, but when it turned, we were able to make good time. I wanted to go ahead and get on down the bay to get off the bay!

We are tied up at Utches Marina in Cape May. Many Loopers and bloggers recommended this marina. It has a real narrow entrance. Once inside, it is bustling with boats of all types. There are a ton of deep sea fishing boats here.

For dinner, we went to The Lobster House. This is a well known seafood restaurant on the docks here in Cape May. It was very good.

I hope we will be near New York tomorrow night, and I will be unpuckered!

Thanks for Reading!
