Unfortunately, Murphy and his "Law" love it here in Southport. I was disappointed but not surprised this morning when I learned that the part that was ordered would not be into Wilmington until tomorrow. The owner of the marine service company has been very nice and professional about this whole thing. He promised to be here sometime tomorrow morning to install the new isolator and the old alternator which they found to be OK.

I hope to be out of here by noon tomorrow and we will go 40 miles up to a marina at a condo complex that is 7 miles South of Surf City, NC. It is still nasty here. Winds are lower than yesterday, but they are high enough when combined with the cold, that it is very blustery. Winds are supposed to subside tomorrow through the afternoon, so I hope we can speed up the boat and get to the marina by late afternoon.

We have several recovery plans. One is to travel at a higher speed, but at the expense of using more fuel. Another is to skip New Bern, NC, which is a real disappointment. We had three nights allocated at New Bern, so that will make up a bunch of time.

Our big weather sensitive open water crossings are still ahead of us. After the Cape Fear River around the bend from where we are in Southport, we have The Neuse River, Pamlico Sound and River, Albemarle Sound, and Currituck Sound. Any of these will be tough in winds above 15 mph, so we have to have good days to travel on these bodies of water. We are still confident that we can make Norfolk by Sunday, May 5.

Dinner tonight was with at Mr.P's Bistro in Southport. We gathered on the docks at 6 and walked about 15 minutes to the restaurant. It was 8 of us tonight, Craig and Barbara from "Blue Heron", John and Katie from "Lightfoot", Grace and Jeff from "SeaGlide" and Susan and I. Another great meal at a quality restaurant, along with excellent service. We have not been disappointed at any of the three places that we have eaten in Southport, and these are bonafide local places!

We hope to be up the waterway this time tomorrow. Everyone is leaving tomorrow, so I hope we will be out of here too....and I hope Murphy jumps ship!

Thanks for Reading!
