Happy 4th of July everybody! It was a beautiful day in Kingston, NY. No rain! There was Thunder over the Hudson tonight with a massive fireworks display.

Music started along the docks at noon. Crowds began to grow through the day. We were experiencing Americana. Susan and I found a nice wine store up the street and got rid of the drug store wine which was frankly awful! We finally discovered that decent wine is only sold in wine and spirits stores and not at food stores like we have seen elsewhere.
It was a beautiful day as this barge loaded with fireworks for the show at Poughkeepsie, NY  goes by

At 5:00, the Looper group gathered at the picnic tables at the Maritime Museum. There were 14 to 16 of us and we each brought a dish. Linda and Eddie from Spiritus did Chicken and provided the swimming pool. Joe from Knot So Fast did burgers. Steve and Meredith from Free at Last did vegetables. Susan from Blue Moon and Leila from Sun Gypsy did deviled eggs. Some others did corn and desert and salads. Ron from Adagio brought their Springer Spaniel Duke who splashed in the pool. Susan brought Maggie up for a while. It was wonderful!

After dinner it was time for fireworks off the bridge in front of us. An old wooden boat from Lewes, DE docked in front of us earlier in the day. There were hundreds of people along the wall to watch fireworks. Fire boats from all around came to Kingston to protect the boats.

At 9:20 PM the fireworks started and the Thunder and Light show lasted 25 minutes. They shot the fireworks off the bridge right over us. We wet the bimini top down to protect it from ash and sparks. It was a great show!
Ready for fireworks

We had a great 4th and we were thankful to be with fellow Loopers out of the floods. The Erie Canal opened from Lock E-2 at Waterford to Lock E-8 this morning. No word on when Lock 12 will be fixed.

We will probably stay in Kingston another week. We talked to our friend Ed from Orlando today. He had prostate cancer surgery last week and everything seems to be turning out fine. We are so thankful!

Thanks for Reading!
