Thanks to Eddy From "Spiritus" for calling this afternoon and advising that the Erie Canal will open next week by July 18! We then looked at the Canal Corporation Notice to Mariners and it was right there! Yahoo! Yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel and it is not a train!

Right now, I think we will stay in Kingston until the Canal opens. We can stay here for the rest of the month with what we have paid already for docking. We need a day to get to Albany then we will go about 12 miles to Waterford and spend the night ready to get into the first Lock early the next morning. This will get us into the Canal two days after it opens and this should get the logjam of boats ahead of us.

This morning, Susan washed the boat. It was cool and clear. This afternoon I made copies of the Blog to send to my Uncle who is not into computers. I want him to read about our trip.

We did Docktails tonight with Rick and Leila on "Sun Gypsy" and her cousin and his wife who are in from California. They all leave tomorrow to head North slowly toward the Canal. We hope to see them again.

The waiting is almost over!

Thanks for Reading!
