Tonight we are in Valdosta, GA for my sister's son's wedding.
The day kicked off slowly. We ate lunch with our daughter and two grand daughters at Olive Garden next to the hotel in Valdosta. It was definitely unmemorable!
We were at the church for the 5:00 wedding by about 4:30. People filtered in. Our cousins from South Florida and North Carolina were at the wedding, and it was fun to get to talk to them.
After the ceremony there was the customary hour taken for pictures in the church while most everyone else went to the reception. Since our grand daughter Ava was a flower girl, she was involved in the pictures. We stayed in the car with the other grand daughter while daughter Beth dealt with Ava.
In my best Andy Rooney tone, I will throw a zinger at the inordinate amount of time it takes after a wedding to take pictures at the church. Everyone attending the wedding drives over to the reception and waits around to see the bride and groom. Then an hour or more later the reception starts. Isn't there a better way? Yes! Have the reception before the wedding?
It was about dark when the reception got underway. It was a nice dinner at an old home in Valdosta. It was nice to see everyone. Sister Betsy did most of the work it seems, and she is to be commended! We had a good time.
