Sunday was overcast and cool in Charleston. We slept late then walked from the Maritime Center to Center City where we ate lunch on the waterfront at a restaurant named Fleet Landing. It was good. We ate on the porch outside and it was very cool with the wind coming off the water. Some of us were "seafooded out", and we had burgers for lunch. They tasted great!
After lunch, we walked through the Market on Market Street. This open air type market stretches for 4 or 5 blocks and has a variety of goods for sale. We came out of the market on Meeting Street, so we walked all the way to the Battery on this Street.
Meeting Street reflects the downtown shopping then transitions to Hotels, Churches, then the quaint residential district all the way to the Battery. Beautiful old homes and mansions line this street. One of our favorite stops is St. Michael's Episcopal Church. We walked through the old cemetery at the Church. Outside the wall to the cemetery, the Gullah ancestors were making sweetgrass baskets just as we remember from past visits.

This is for my buddy Hugh Wilson, who wanted us to know that this is one of his favorite restaurants! |
We got back to "Blue Moon" late in the afternoon. A new Looper boat had docked at the marina. "Rock Chalk" is a 44' Endeavor Power Catamaran that is doing the Loop for a second time. Richard got a ride to the airport and picked up a rental car to get back to Savannah on Monday. Good thing he got the car, because it started raining as we planned dinner. We rode back to Center City for dinner and ate at Fleet Landing again. We all like that restaurant. This time we all ate seafood.
Tomorrow, Richard and Linda leave to go to Savannah to get their car, then they drive back to Montgomery. Susan and I go on to Georgetown, SC.
Thanks for Reading!
