Stayed in "The Bay" today, watching it rain most of the day. The rain stopped during the early afternoon, and things dried out. We off loaded the bikes and took off on a ride around the Island.

Rode downtown then over to the "Peace Monument" commemorating Perry's victory in the Battle of Lake Erie. This is a very cool 375' tall tower with an elevator in the center that takes you to an observation deck at the top. We rode to the top and enjoyed an incredible vista for 360 regress around "The Bay". The weather had cleared and you could see all the way North to mainland Canada; all the way West to the Fermi Nuclear Plant on the Western shores of Lake Erie; and Southeast to the big Cedar Point Amusement Park at Sandusky, OH. We also got a great bird's eye view of "Blue Moon" in her slip at the marina.

At 375' tall, it has the tallest observation deck of any Park System Monument in the US

Very impressive

After the Monument, we rode bikes to the Eastern end of the Island and enjoyed seeing some older homes, a few B&B's and a vineyard. The road terminated in a turnaround at the water that could be called land's end.

We went back to the grocery store on the bikes and picked up more jugs and bottles of water and some things we forgot to get yesterday.

Tomorrow we head up to the Motor City, Detroit, Michigan. We have reservations at a State of Michigan Marina in Motown, on the Detroit River. Should be a blast.
