We are still at Harrisville, MI, tonight, having spent a weather day here waiting out a front that has brought cold, clouds, wind, and waves to this part of the country.

We are thankful for being in this "harbor of refuge" as they say up here. Even with the break walls around the harbor, we are being rocked substantially by the wind. Further, it is cold up here today. I doubt that the temperature has gotten out of the high 50's or low 60's. We ran the heat on the boat for a good while this morning, but it is great sleeping weather!

At lunchtime, we walked into town and checked out some restaurants. We ate lunch at a great local place called Flour Garden. It was very reasonable. The local grocery is a small IGA and it is only a couple of blocks from the boat. On the way back from lunch, we stopped and got several bags of groceries. We also found a drug store that is like a general store. It had most of the supplies that we were looking for, and we came away from there with few bags also. We need to make another run with bikes and back packs for heavier items like - you guessed it: BOTTLED WATER!.

I wore shorts and a polo shirt - no jacket - and I about froze. Wow! I won't make that mistake again. People in town were bundled up in fleece and winter coats with the high winds. I even saw several snow plows riding around (just kidding- but it does feel like Fall up here). Maybe Fall starts in August this far North. Who knows?

We went back to town for dinner at the Old Town Inn. It had a nice dining room and people at the different tables were talking to each other. A mother and her two young children started talking to us about our trip, after the mother overheard us tell the waitress about the Great Loop. The mom was from Ann Harbor, MI and was vacationing on the Lake South of Harrisville. Anyway, after they paid their bill and were walking out, the waitress brought a handwritten note over to our table from the mom and then told us that our dinner had been "taken care of". We couldn't believe it! I saw the mom and her kids leaving, so I ran out the door and thanked her. She said she just wanted to do something nice for us and wished us luck on our trip. Wow!

The meal was very good. Real home cooking, and they took the time to prepare the food fresh from the kitchen. As we were leaving, we stopped at a table to talk to a couple who were in the boat docked next to us at the marina. They were from Indiana and had just bought their sailboat in Port Clinton, OH, and were taking it back to Lake Michigan. We exchanged war stories about used boats. They have had their trials and tribulations in only a few days of ownership of their new "used" boat. We are both going the same direction, so we may run across them again.

Tomorrow looks like another weather day also. We will definitely go back to the lunch place again. There are some antique stores in town also that we might check out.

Thanks for Reading!
