Another hot and humid day. This morning we said goodbye to Kenny and Jeanne on "Daybreak" who were docked behind us for the last two days after the marina crew moved the big boy, "My "Medicine", back to the other end of the floating dock. Kenny does not have a thruster on his 38' lobster style boat, so we helped him back out of the tight space he was in behind us. They are going up the Lake Champlain route to Montreal instead of waiting for the Erie Canal to open. "Adagio" and "Aurora" also left this morning as did "Battered Bull". "Sunset Gypsy", "Knot So Fast", and "Free at Last" are still here in the area along with us.

Our friends Brett and Susan from "Once Upon a Time" came by last night but we were all at dinner and missed them. They, too, left this morning heading for the Lake Champlain route. Our friends John and Barbara on "Go" whom we first met on the Alligator River in North Carolina came in last night to another marina up the creek. We talked this morning and they are also going up Lake Champlain. I hope we can see all these folks again in Michigan or beyond.

We have pretty much cancelled the trip home from Toledo that we were going to make at the end of this month. I hope we will be in Buffalo by the end of the month, but we will never make Toledo. We also need to make up the time that we have lost waiting on the Canal to open.

So, we are busy trying to get some things done that we were going to do when home in Alabama. Maggie has to have her yearly shots in August, so we have lined up a vet here in Kingston to get these shots for her this week. We also have ordered flea and heart worm treatments for Maggie and Trooper to be sent up here this week. We found a bird store up here to get some seeds for Peanut also. We probably will not stop for this long a time again on the trip, and I don't know when we will have a car again, so we have to get all this stuff here in Kingston while we can.

I am sooo ready to move on! They opened another part of the Canal today-from Lock 8 to Lock 11, but you still can't get past Lock 12. No word on that.

Thanks for Reading!

  1. How long will it take you to get back home? When are you expected back here at the Lake? I've enjoyed reading of your experiences. Absolutely the trip of a lifetime. Be safe. Our best to you both.
