Date: February 7, 2014
Day on the Cruise: 231
From: Twin Dolphins Marina, Bradenton, FL
To: Marina Jack, Sarasota, FL
Statute Miles: 28.6 SM
Time: 3.5 Hrs
Cumulative Miles: 5,738.3 SM
On Board: Susan, Chuck, Maggie, Trooper, Peanut
Tonight we are at Marina Jack in the Bayfront section of downtown Sarasota, FL.
We departed Bradenton as Ross from "Attitude Changer" helped with our lines. The day was very cloudy and yucky. It was very cool. We rode down the Manatee River and soon entered Tampa Bay. The wind was out of the Northwest and it rolled us until we got to the Manatee Ave Bridge over to Anna Maria island. The waters calmed considerably.
The pretty water that we have seen in the past along Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key was not real pretty today because of the overcast. We could see some aqua color, but no where near what it would have been if the sun was shinning.
Sarasota Bay is quite wide and we had to wind around to stay in the channel. Finally we crossed under the bridge from Sarasota to St. Armand's Key and Siesta Key and Longboat Key, then turned East into the Bayfront area of downtown Sarasota and the marina called Marina Jack.
We docked at 2:20 and got settled. Bob and Janet from "Harmony" greeted us. They are here for a few days before heading South.
It was still overcast and cool, so we had dinner aboard and made it an early evening. Tomorrow we stay in Sarasota and will do some sight seeing. Sunday we will go about 30 miles to Cape haze, FL, then on Monday we head to Captiva where we will finish the Loop and stay at South Seas Resort!
Thanks for Reading.
