Tonight we remain in Panama City.
The weather was gorgeous this morning. No wind. Blue, cloudless skies. But....VERY cold again. Temps were at 33 at 7:30. THIRTY THREE DEGREES IN FREAKIN PANAMA CITY, FL!!
We did a captain's meeting at 7:30 on the dock. Rick reported that Mark from Moppsy II did have successful surgery last night. He brought Linda back home at 3:00 this morning. Rick and Leila decided to stay here in Panama City to help Linda. Blue Moon and Free at Last will also stay here today.
One of our reasons to stay deals with our Golden Retriever, Maggie. She woke us up at 4:00 this morning needing to go out. She had a stomach issue that also included some blood. Oh boy, what next?
Out again at 7:00, same thing. Susan does some intel and finds a vet about 10:00. Rick still has the Loper car from last night, so off Rick and Susan and maggie go to the vet. Back to the boat about 1:00 with a diagnosis of Salmonella poisoning. Seems Susan took Maggie to the beach along the Bay at Sandestin. What washes up on a beach in high winds? You name it, but I bet it has to do with fish and water fowl. What does Maggie do? She dines on said fish and water fowl. At least that is what we think. YUCK! Bingo, 24 hours later, stomach problems.
So Maggie can't eat normal food and has a fist full of meds to take. But she seems better tonight.
Cold weather and another day to stay in the boat. This Blog has captured me and made me a prisoner to its continued existence, so I have been catching up on the Blog all day.
Mark from Moppsy II is better today. Conscious, still in pain, but sitting up and getting good care. Linda got a hotel room and a rental car. Susan helped her with her two dogs tonight. She arranged for the Sea Ray dealer to come get the boat and get it back to Hilton Head. Their daughter is coming down on Thursday to help get Linda and mark back to Hilton Head.
All this is good news. The Gulf Crossing weather? What did you expect? Yep, Thursday and Friday are slammed shut and it looks like maybe Saturday and Sunday now. Anyway, we will make tracks to Carrabelle in the next couple of days and start the waiting. We can wait here in PC, or in Apalach, or in Carrabelle.
We ate dinner tonight with some new Loopers who arrived this afternoon. They are just starting out from Pensacola. It was good to talk to them and answer their questions. We hope they will tag along with our group to Tarpon Springs. We tried a local Mexican joint down the street, and it was pretty good. We used the "Loopermobile" loaned to us by the Loopers from last night, to get to and from the restaurant.
Thanks for Reading!
